Stemlite Pendant Lamp, designed in 1962 by American designer Bill Curry, is the first “total look” lamp, meaning a unified module with a minimalist form. Its innovative design replaced the classic combination of base and shade with a single integrated body. In 1965, it was recognized by Industrial Design Magazine as the “most influential lamp of the year,” and its iconic status was cemented by its presence in the set design of the original Star Trek series.

The contemporary version from GUBI retains the spirit of the original, offering it in a modern color palette while preserving its authentic style. The pendant version is an inverted form of the original design a simple adjustment that still captivates with its clean lines, organic shape, and softly diffused light provided by the blown, frosted shade.
